Validation of Key Gender Measures for Women Economic Empowerment

This study was commissioned by Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED) and funded by the Gates Foundation through Care International in Uganda. It focused on evaluating key gender metrics related to empowerment, specifically in the context of women's economic outcomes within Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (SACCOs) and Community Savings and Credit Groups (CSCGs) under the Promotion of Financial Inclusion and Rural Investment (PROFIRA) program. Conducted across diverse settings and interventions, the study sought to validate these gender measures and document significant lessons concerning women's economic empowerment. The study's comprehensive approach enabled a thorough evaluation of the effectiveness of gender measures in enhancing economic opportunities for women within these financial frameworks.
