Theme: Financial Inclusion
This study was commissioned by the Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (MGLSD). The study focused on the review of the Uganda Women entrepreneurship Programme (UWEP) whose main goal was to establish the extent to which the Programme had met its objectives, and document achievements, constraints and lessons learnt in its implementation to make critical decisions and improve Programme implementation in the next phase.
A mixed-methods approach was used, including review of Programme documents, a survey of 430 women beneficiaries and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with beneficiaries from all the main sub-regions in the country. It also involved Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) with political leaders at national, district and lower local government levels and Programme implementers.
